Tom DeSanto/Bryan Singer 2001 Galactica Continuation Mk IV Colonial Viper #101 "Starbuck / D.C.A.G." 1:24 Scale. In 2001 excitement stirred in the Science Fiction community, especially with Battlestar Galactica Fans. Hollywood Producers, Tom DeSanto and Bryan Singer stated they would be pursuing a new TV Series... Galactica Continuation. The show would simply be an extension of the 1978 series. With that goal in mind, Producer Tom DeSantoi designed a new look for the Colonial Viper... what would later be known as the Mk IV. Years went by and a story emerged that was somewhat absent of the Apollo character played by Richard Hatch. In 2006, with Kurt Kuhn (of Modelers Miniatures & Magic / Kuhn Global) funding the project, artist Michael Miles became in contact with Tom DeSanto, then receiving a green light to produce a physical model of Tom’s Mk IV Colonial Viper. Since the original series had made their studio model Vipers in 1/24 scale, Michael decided this would be the best scale to make it in. He hand sculpted the shape, making it not quite symmetrical. Being that Kurt Kuhn had funded this project, he had the first of these MK VI Vipers built by artist David Martis. Kurt gave that model to Tom DeSanto, where it sits on his desk even today. After a bit of an issue with Michael, artist Gil Brumana stepped in, working with Michael’s pattern, and remaking it symmetrical. Unfortunately this series never got off the ground, however, this model did, and we have the first four offered in this Auction. Starbuck, Boomer, Jolley and Greenbean. This 1/24 Colonial Viper MK IV offered here is Boomer’s,.. Number 101. He is the D.C.A.G. (Deputy Commander, Air Group) of Blue Squadron (in this never realized Series), and as such, his Mk IV Viper has specific markings. As second in command, Boomer’s Viper has all of the appropriate markings that make it his own Viper, setting it apart from the others, yet keeping the integrity of Blue Squadron. An outstanding piece on its own, or with the entire squadron. Keywords: Collectible; Ref: BD1831
