Star Wars The Last Jedi Resistance RZ-2 A-Wing "Ralph McQuarrie's original Design" 1:24 Scale. Made by legendary artist Richard long. This piece was finished by famed artist Dan Grumeretz. The A-Wing has been an exciting design from the first time we saw one on screen in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. That specific design was smaller than the original designed by legendary artist Ralph McQuarrie. His design was larger in every way. All Star Wars fans were very happy to see McQuarrie’s original design honored in Star Wars Rebels, as the show used an A-Wing that had similar features and paint, but not exact. When Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released, and the bombing of the Siege Dreadnought, Fulminatrix began, we then viewed the A-Wing as it was designed originally by McQuarrie. The only difference was the paint scheme used for the movie. This beautiful piece in 1/24 scale is a physical replica of what Ralph McQuarrie’s vision was. Hand crafted by Legendary artist Richard Long, and finished by famed industry artist Dan Grumeretz, it is a true replica of the famed McQuarrie design in 1/24 scale. As are most Star Wars studio models, this piece was also painted in its base white color. Its sleek design has a large blue stripe that extends from the nose of the fighter, going around the cockpit canopy, finishing on the rear of the canopy clam shell. The is a triangle in white at the tip of the fighter, with the point facing toward its front, as if to point the way forward. There are two solid stripes on either side of the canopy that give the model the McQuarrie style it should have. These stripes were replicated on the A-Wing seen in Star Wars Rebels, although for that show only two were placed on the front starboard side of that A-Wing. The Blue striping extends on the rear stabilizer fins, making this piece look as if it were a racer. There are smaller red markings also painted on its hull by artist Dan Grumeretz, indicating certain features on the fighter that are likely used, or avoided regularly. In the detailed cockpit, under the clear canopy bubble, sits a Pilot with burnt orange/red helmet that is also what McQuarries design appeared to be like. The large cannons on each side of the fighter make it look as if it could take on fighters much larger than itself. There are small red strips on each fighter, going around the top half of the circumference of each cannon. The rear engines have detailed interiors and are capped with a bronze metallic paint. If one looks closely at the rear, one would see a few hoses and pipes, likely needed to make the engines work if it were real. They add amazing realism to this fine model replica. The weathering was done by using black and rust paints to obtain that battle-used look. It makes this great A-Wing look as realistic to the original McQuarrie Artwork, and digital movie model as possible. Keywords: Collectible; Ref: BD1831
