Description:

Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back Twin Pod Cloud Car Studio Scale Model. The studio scale Twin Pod Cloud Car has always been an interesting design to me. When I first viewed The Empire Strikes Back in 1980 it was not one of my favorite designs, yet after decades of enjoying the film many, many times to count, I have come to very much love this design. I even have the original toy that I received when it was originally released. Decades later an amazing artist named Tobias Rubom would take on the physical Studio Scale Twin Pod Cloud Car, replicating it in every detail that he could see from photos of the original filming model. Kurt Kuhn began speaking with Tobias during that time and on May 13, 2007 the first cast parts were made. After its build by legendary artist R.L. Bleecker, the first Cloud Car Studio Scale Replica was photographed by Kurt for Lucasfilm to be on a Poster that was designed by Star Wars Artist Chris Trevas for Celebration V. It was of Boba Fett looking toward the Millennium Falcon as it was being guided into Cloud City. The Poster was called “ The Hunter and His Prey”. That specific Cloud Car Replica now resides in a very large Collection in New Jersey, USA. Since that time, the pattern for the replica was passed to another Industry artist named George Takacs, and Kurt had another cast. Built by famed Industry Artist, Dan Grumeretz, it is the piece offered in this Auction. Dan had been the artist to originally sculpt the pilot figures for the Cloud Car Replica. In his build of this cast, he matched the paint perfectly, making this piece feel like the original studio filming model from 1980. It is as beautiful and realistic to the original as possible. The light detailing on this replica is truly beautiful. It is mountable from the bottom center of the crossbar, which is the engine pod section, via a 1/4-20 thread. It is truly outstanding.
