Description:

Star Wars A New Hope Ralph McQuarrie / Joe Johnston CONCEPT X-Wing 1:24 Scale Model. This is another beautiful and unique piece that was designed as a Concept X-Wing for 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope. The designers are legendary artists Ralph McQuarrie and Joe Johnston. In 2010 another huge named artist decided to bring the Johnston/McQuarrie design into reality. Richard Long hand made this piece in 1/24 scale in order to match much of the Star Wars Collection on display that is in Studio Scale. This piece is truly amazing as it is one of the concept designs for the T-65 X-Wing that was seen in 1977, and yet its split engine design would not be realized until Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens, which was decades after Star Wars was initially released. This piece is absolutely stunning to view in its sleek and beautiful design. Artist Dan Grumeretz made this exactly like the original Concept Artworks by legendary artists Joe Johnston and Ralph McQuarrie. The Pilot’s helmet even has the famous ‘5’ marking upon it, located on either side. The round-ish fuselage is striking with much detail added and paint markings. The R2 unit sitting behind the cockpit canopy is that of the concept design of that droid as well, with its antenna radar atop of its dome. The recognizable split engine design is beautiful, with detail inside and out of them, making this piece look as if it were a real life sized X-Wing that someone had shrunk with some sort of technology to do so. Its four wings open wide for battle, the laser lances look aggressive on each of them. In front of the canopy, there are five orange stripes to indicate this X-Wing’s designation, as well as the number ‘5’ that can be seen on either side, located just below the rear canopy area. Simply stated, this piece is outstanding and serves as the precursor design to the classic X-Wing the world fell in love with in 1977. This actual model has been admired by thousands of people in person, and millions of world-wide viewers on the internet. It is the beginning after all, very rare and highly valuable, and is perfect for any Collection. Keywords: Collectible; Ref: BD1831
