RoboCop ED-209 Diorama "Face-Off" Studio Scale. Designed and made by the very famous Phil Tippett (an Oscar and Emmy Award Winning Visual Effects Artist) for the 1987 original movie RoboCop, this is a studio miniature of the ED-209, RoboCop’s deadly nemesis. Remade by Chronicle Studios Artist Dana Diana, this piece now is even more amazing in a Diorama that Kurt Kuhn named “Face-Off”. Dana made this fantastic Diorama with the ED-209 now repainted as an Autonomous Military Drone facing off with a tiny Sunflower in the desert landscape. It has been suggested that the ED-209 simply cannot identify it properly, yet knows it is a life-form. With that possible take on this beautiful piece, this Diorama suggests a much bolder message that only its viewer may take in when seeing it. The attention to detail on the ED-209 is truly perfect, even in its repaint. The struts and hydraulic looking parts on the massive legs, as well as in the huge feet, look purposeful. From the waste up, the head, shoulders and arms manually swivel right and left. Its guns are massive to its body, showing real intent for this design. There is a small antenna sitting atop the rear of its huge head, and just behind it are the rear heat dissipation vents. On its perceived elbow joints are what look to be hydraulic hoses. The body has much detail all over it, including many industrial sized allen wrench bolts that appear to hold it all together. Dana’s paint up of this piece is exquisite with identifying marks upon it, such as US ARMY, a serial identification number, and art work. The light weathering is appropriate. The base is made to resemble a desert terrain, and there are actual loose pebbles, adding to the Diorama as rocks on the ground. This piece comes with a plaque that is physically signed by Phil Tippett, with the smaller signature located under the ED-209 typeset being that of Dana Diana. This piece always receives intrigued commentary by viewers and is quite fantastic in person. It is one of a kind and will enhance any Collection. Keywords: Collectible; Ref: BD1831
