Description:

Rare Lot of 10 Consecutive Confederate $10 Bank Notes. Includes rare consecutive serial numbers; 46302, 46303, 46304, 46305, 46306, 46307, 46308, 46309, 46310, 46311. During the Civil War, the Confederate States of America issued its own paper currency as an alternative to U.S. currency. Features a vignette on the front showing Confederate soldiers on horseback pulling a cannon into battle. In the right bottom corner is a portrait of Robert M. Hunter, the Confederate Secretary of State in the early years of the Civil War. The back is blue and includes the denomination with elaborate designs. Each Confederate $10 bill was hand-signed and hand-numbered on the front by Confederate officials. Due to the lack of bank note paper in the South during the Civil War, currency was printed on regular paper. By the end of the Civil War in 1865, all Confederate currency was demonetized, and much of it was destroyed. Keywords: Money, Currency, Stamps; Ref: BD1573
