Liu Yucen Alpine Eagles Chinese Porcelain Panel Painting. Depicts a pair of Alpine Eagles in a marsh. Painted during the Republic Period by artist Liu Yucen. Liu Yucen (1904-1969) was the youngest of the 'Eight Friends of Zhushan.' thanks to the tutelage of renowned ceramicist Pan Taoyu, and his innovation of the shuidian taohua or 'water droplets on peach flowers' method of fencai enameling he became one of the leading ceramicists working in Jingdezhen while only in his 20s. In his decades-long painting life, Liu Yucen has a rigorous conception of both work and writing, and uses the characteristics of the smooth brush to portray the images of flowers and birds that disappear at a distance. The dignified and smooth strokes are in place. Liu Yucen relies on his own painting style, his understanding of life, humane emotion and personality charm as his artistic background, which makes the elegant and transcendental porcelain plate painting style fully displayed. It can be said that every flower, plant, tree and bird in his paintings are full of It captures the beauty of interest, artistic conception and form of "literati painting". Liu Yuchen was one of 8 members of the Friends of Zhushan. The Eight Friends of Zhushan was a group of porcelain painters mostly active from the 19th century to the 20th century. They were among the best porcelain artists of the Republican period. The group was instrumental in revitalizing the Chinese porcelain industry in the wake of the hardship that befell the whole of China after the Taiping rebellion and other uprisings and political unrest in China in the mid 19th century and after the fall of the Qing dynasty.
