Description:

Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back Imperial I-Class - Star Destroyer - Avenger 1:1680 Scale. The Star Destroyer AVENGER, from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, is an Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer, and this model replica of it is an impressive 37.5 inches in length at 1:1680 Scale. It is the exact same scale model as the Star Destroyer DEVASTATOR (seen in 1977’s STAR WARS) that is also offered in this auction. The main parts for this model were created by industry model maker Randy Cooper, and this model was built, painted, and properly weathered by famed industry artist Dan Grumeretz. This version of the Star Destroyer, named Avenger, was first seen in the 1980 film, The Empire Strikes Back, with an amazing 8-foot filming model built specifically for that film. That model was used for the extreme close-up shots taken during some of the exciting space scenes, like when the Millennium Falcon was being pursued through an asteroid field. The Avenger is quite a bit different in featured appearance than the Devastator we viewed in 1977’s Star Wars, and there is no mistaking this Star Destroyer’s identity. This model has thousands of fiber optics inside and has the proper spotlighting inside the trenches on each side. The bright bluish-white engine lighting and the belly hangar lighting truly make this stunning model come to life. Keywords: Collectible; Ref: BD1831
