Description:

Extremely RARE!! WWI & WWII Colt 1911 .45 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Colt History Letter. This Model of 1911, Serial No. 233999, was manufactured in 1918 and was issued to then Major Malvin H. Hauge. Major Hauge was a World War I Flight Surgeon who was attached to the 1st Pursuit Group in Toul, France. He returned home sometime after the Armistice was signed. According to his son, Erling, his father only fired his pistol, for familiarization and qualification, less than 50 rounds and never had to “fire a shot in anger”. Captain Erling T. Hauge became a Flight Surgeon during World War II and served in the South Pacific, specifically in New Guinea in the Philippines. He was attached to the 5th Army/Air Force (A.A.F.) which was previously known as the Far East Air Forces (F.E.A.F.) from 1943 to 1946. Captain Hauge was issued a Remington-Rand .45, Serial No. 1036608, which was manufactured in 1943. Although he went through a similar familiarization and qualification exercise, with his Remington 1911A1, as his father had with his Colt decades earlier. Captain Hauge decided to carry his father’s Colt during World War II and never had to “fire a shot in anger” with it. This family history was related by Army Captain Erling T. Hauge before his death in 2004. Caliber/ Gauge: 45 ACP; Serial Number: 233999 Working Order: Firearm has not been tested; Background Check: Required; Keywords: Firearms, Guns; Ref: BD1040
