This historic Winchester model 1876 has the dust cover rail being integral to the receiver. The sliding dust cover has a serrated back end. This rifle sports a 28” blued octagon barrel with the standard two-line Winchester address which includes the “Kings Improvement Patent” dates on the top flat. The barrel has a German-nickel blade front sight and an adjustable rear sight. Barrel should be roll-marked with the caliber on the top barrel flat next to the receiver. The hammer has a knurled spur. The straight-grained wood forearm has a blued cap and the matching buttstock finishes up with a blued, crescent butt-plate. • Dimensions: 28" Barrel
  • Circa: 1884 Madis
  • Condition: The original bluing on the barrel, the magazine tube, the forearm cap and crescent butt-plate has thinned and started to turn to a slightly blotchy light brown patina. There are minor scratches and nicks on the barrel and magazine tube. The receiver, loading lever and hammer show bluing wear, streaking and pin-prick oxidation marks. These areas are also turning to a mottled silver-grey patina. The receiver side plates were color-case hardened. The barrel bore is semi-shiny with visibly strong rifling and showing signs of old scattered oxidation. The buttstock and forearm exhibit minor dents, some scratches and handling marks. There are no cracks, chips or gouges. The crescent butt-plate shows a beautiful brown patina. The action and half-cock are very strong and there are no signs of any replaced parts. Here is a true piece of American History.
