Antique Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action .38 WCF Rifle with Factory Letter. This Model Winchester 1873 has a 24” inch round barrel with a full-length magazine tube. The sliding dust cover rides on a rail that is integral to the receiver. The Winchester two-line address and caliber marking are roll-stamped on the top portion of the barrel with the caliber marking again stamped on the external bottom of the shell-lifter. The German-silver front blade sight is coupled with an elevator-adjustable buckhorn rear sight. In addition, there is an adjustable Lyman tang-mounted peep sight installed. The crescent butt-plate has a sliding trapdoor for the storage of the cleaning rod. The Model number is located under the peep sight on the upper-tang while the serial number is located on the bottom tang directly behind the loading lever securing the lock. The forearm cap, receiver, knurled-spur hammer, loading lever, and crescent-shaped butt-plate were all color-case hardened. The barrel and magazine tube were blued. The forearm and buttstock are made of straight-grained Walnut.   • Dimensions: 24" barrel;
  • Circa: 1891;
  • Condition: The original bluing on the barrel and magazine tube has turned to a brownish patina and shows minor wear. All the other metal parts show traces of color-case hardening in varying degrees especially in protected areas. The barrel bore is semi-shiny with strong rifling. The Walnut stocks exhibit handling marks, minor dings and some scratches. There are no gouges or cracks. The cleaning rod does not accompany this rifle. The action is solid and functions perfectly. There does not appear to be any replaced parts.
