Atq Sharps 1877 No. 1 Long Range Falling Block Single Shot Target Rifle with Letter. This exquisite Antique Falling-Block, which comes with a Sharps Rifle Co., Certificate of Provenance Letter is a single shot, Target rifle and is only one (1) of forty-six (46) Number 1 Long Range rifles that were produced. It sports a 34” half-round / half octagon blued bull-barrel with a windage-adjustable globe front sight with an aperture insert and spirit level. There is a tang mounted Vernier peep sight, a knurled trigger and a knurled hammer spur. The barrel and receiver are finely hand-engraved with a vine style scroll pattern. The barrel has two inlaid “Wedding Bands” on the muzzle and breech. The receiver exhibits an engraved Buffalo Scene on the left side and a Bull Elk on the right side. The case colors on the receiver, lever and breech loading channel are vivid. The barrel is marked: “SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT” and “OLD RELIABLE” on the top flat. The right-side flat is marked 2 4/10. Under the Schnabel forearm, the bottom-flat is marked with the number 156739 and the numbers 10 – 5 - 16. The underside of the forearm is marked, in pencil, with the number 156739. The pistol-gripped buttstock has an inlaid plate for an additional sight, a checkered grip cap and a double-diamond checkered hard rubber butt-plate. Accompanying this rifle is a letter from Richard J. Labowskie, owner of the serial number documentation from original records of the SHARPS RIFLE COMPANY. The documented letter states that this rifle was invoiced at the Bridgeport factory on January 27th, 1887 to P. WEBLEY & SONS, Birmingham, England.   • Accompanying this rifle is a letter from Richard J. Labowskie, owner of the serial number documentation from original records of the SHARPS RIFLE COMPANY. The documented letter states that this rifle was invoiced at the Bridgeport factory on January 27th, 1887 to P. WEBLEY & SONS, Birmingham, England. The provenance of this rifle includes Jim Wilkinson, noted Arizona shooter and hunter, M.C. Clark, early CAlifornia collector of the finest arms, and Reginald F. Sedgley, custom gunsmith of Philadelphia, PA. The rifle has not been seen in the collector market for over 60 years.

  • This rifle retains 99% of its’ original bluing and case coloring. The bore is bright with very strong rifling with a minor amount of very light pitting. The stocks are excellent showing crisp checkering and a fine original finish. The action is very solid and does not appear to have any replaced parts.

If your Arizona ID does not reflect your current address you MUST provide us with a secondary form of ID that contains your correct address. Arizona Gun Dealers must have a signed copy of their Federal Firearms License in order to accept delivery of modern weapons. ANY DENIED BACKGROUND CHECK WILL RESULT IN A REFUND MINUS A 25% RESTOCKING FEE.
