Antique Josef Carl von Klinkosch Sterling Silver Dish. Stamped JCK Austrian Diana A import hallmark 1901-21. Josef Carl von Klinkosch; Imperial Silversmith to Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria: Klinkosch fulfilled numerous commissions for the Austrian Royal Family and is regarded among the finest Austrian silversmiths of the late 19th century. The company's customers not only included the upper bourgeoisie and aristocracy, but also the imperial court from 1855, which awarded it the title " kuk court and chamber supplier " due to its merits and the high quality of the products. In 1869 Klinkosch became sole proprietor and the company was renamed JC Klinkosch . The company took part in the World Exhibitions in Vienna in 1873 and in Paris in 1878. In 1879 Josef Carl Klinkosch was knighted . From 1884 he retired from the business and the company was passed on to his two sons Arthur (1853-1899) and Isidor (1852-1914). Privately, he was able to build up an extensive private art collection with his fortune, which was auctioned off in 1889 after his death. Josef Carl Klinkosch died in the house at Afrikanergasse 3 in the 2nd district of Vienna, Leopoldstadt . In 1918 the company was acquired by Arthur Krupp and continued under the name "JC Klinkosch AG". In 1972 the company was deleted from the commercial register. Approx.
