Antique Colt Model 1883 Hammerless Side by Side 12Ga Shotgun. This Colt Model 1883 Hammerless Side-By-Side shotgun is chambered in 12 gauge with 28” inch Damascus Twist barrels. Barrels are choked Modified and Improved Cylinder. This shotgun has a box-lock action and was manufactured in Hartford, CT in 1893. This Colt Shotgun features factory engraving on the receiver, lever, trigger guard, lower tang and forearm latch. The solid rib is concave with a brass front bead. There is a sliding tang safety, knurled top lever and utilizes extractors. The splinter forearm and stock are nicely point checkered. The stock measurements are as follows: a 1 7/8” drop at comb, a 3 1/16” drop at heel and a length of pull (LOP) of 14” inches measured from the front trigger. There are matching serial numbers on the receiver, barrels, forearm (wood and metal) and also on the trigger guard. The bores are shiny and show no spots of pitting or damage. The checkered woods stocks are very good exhibiting only minor handling marks.
